In a performance that inspired a nation, Korea's Se Ri Pak captured the 1998 U.S. Women's Open title at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wis. Pak withstood 72nd-hole fireworks from Duke standout Jenny Chuasiriporn, who holed a winding, 45-foot putt to force a Monday playoff. After Chuasiriporn, trying to become just the second amateur in history to win the championship, couldn't convert from 12 feet on the 90th hole, the two entered extra holes, where Pak rolled in an 18-foot birdie putt on No. 92 to seal the victory, becoming the first Korean-born player to win the title.
