But hey, I finished rewatching s5 last week and I didn't want to miss the chance to edit a little something with all of them. After all, when you think of the early seasons you think of them, right? Song choice is pretty random (it is a Grey's song, yes) but I like the melancholic tinge to it and I thought it fitted the mood of so many of their scenes, somehow - in the way they were all thrown together randomly and how they had to learn to make space for one another, and how to talk to each other. It was a slow give and take, which did include some conflicts and lots of disagreements. People tend to see these five as this sort of "pillar" of the show, but to me there was always something tenuous in the overall group dynamic. (Of course, that isn't always the case when it comes to the individual cases, especially Cristina & Meredith). I'm not a fan of George and Izzie as individual characters - but I did cherish their bond (and I'm still a little mad they were pushed aside completely in s5, ugh) and I think that the emotional tension and the strain put on them on s3 were particularly compelling to watch. Wish they didn't drop everything after that s4 disaster storyline. As far as Alex/Izzie go, I used to be crazy about them .. but somehow I hardly felt a thing rewatching. I suppose it's because I know how it ends. But anyway! I avoided the romantic side of it here and focused on other aspects of their relationship, reductive as it feels (because they were never really friends, were they) But yeah, the constant back and forth does fit the song, so there. I did try to include all possible combinations but lol did they even try with George and Alex. No they didn't. Like at all. I surprised myself by including George/Meredith so much. Truth is, once they moved past George's crush and their awkward misadventure in s2, .. yikes, their relationship was way better than what I perceived it to be the first time around. Another reason rewatching is always good. Anyway, Cristina/Meredith doesn't really fit the song cause they were always in each other's pockets from the very start but lol who cares. Iconic. And, sadly, there was a lack of Meredith/Alex scenes back then ???? meh. Good thing they fixed that later on. My babes. Idk, I'm blabbering on and on for no reason at all. Bye.
