Welcome back to the latest installment of our Morocco road trip in our self built campervan! This week we finally reach Merzouga, Morocco’s gateway to the Sahara Desert. This amazing place has been on our Morocco itinerary since we arrived so it feels SO good to get here. After settling into our sandy campsite, we make a beeline for the shops & kit ourselves in some proper desert gear. The weather around these parts is no joke. The combination of the bright sun and sideways wind makes for very harsh conditions. But all kitted out & undeterred we set off to climb to the top of the biggest dune we can find! We also take on an eerie hike to a massive dried up lake where flamingos used to live and make some very unusual findings along the way.
