British Instructional Films present a Classroom Film. 01:17:40 Child's hands in C/U squashing together a piece of clay. Various shots of children playing with figures they have made out of soft clay. They are sitting at desks in a classroom. Pottery class - a female teacher demonstrates how a pot is thrown on a wheel. C/Us of her feet operating the wheel and of her hands moulding the pot. 01:18:35 "In the Factory" - a man sits at a wheel and makes a tall pot. He takes the pot off the wheel and places it on a shelf with other similar pots. We then see him use a machine which drills down into the neck of the pot to make a screw neck. He shows the bottle neck to the camera. He then uses a wooden tool to flatten the sides of the pot. A stopper is made for the bottle using a press. The pots are dipped into glaze. A man shows how the stopper screws into the bottle neck. Pots and stoppers are baked in the kiln. Shots of men loading coal into a furnace and shots of the bottles being unpacked from the kiln. Man carries a board on his shoulder on which several pots and jugs are balanced. 01:21:26 "The designer at work": woman marks a design on a large pot. C/U of her face as she works and of the tools she is using. We then see the pot with the design painted on. Woman puts finishing touches to the design with a paintbrush.
