Nagaland: The status of health infrastructure in Chümoukedima District

Chümoukedima became a full-fledged district on 18th December 2022 and is one of the youngest districts in Nagaland. According to the website of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, there are currently one Public Health Center (PHC) and two Sub-centers in Chümoukedima. It is, therefore, imperative to examine and inspect the status of the health care system in the newly carved out district and see if it caters to the needs of the people for medical assistance and emergency services. This report looks into the medical infrastructures in the district to understand the existing gaps and identify potential intervention areas. The story is reported by Kesin Tep under the National Foundation for India’s Media Fellowship for independent journalists. For the fourth round of this media fellowship, NFI granted the fellowship to six multi-media journalists to report in #Nagamese. The fellowships were offered in collaboration with The Morung Express.
