Mid of Sherry Hormann with Campbell-Hughes and Lindhardt STORYLINE: In Vienna on Monday for just a few seconds Natascha Kampusch posed for photographers before the premier of a film about her childhood abduction and eight year imprisonment by Wolfgang Prikopil. Her story has been turned into an English language movie with an international cast called "3096 Days". While the script was based on Kampusch's own biography and police files, Antonia Campbell-Hughes who portrays Kampusch says she never met her for developing her character. "And there were specific decisions for that," she explained. "Because I'm playing her before. It's a very isolated time. You know it's a bubble of time. And I wanted to keep that very focused and pure." Her captor, Prikopil, is played by Danish actor Thure Lindhardt. Lindhardt said it was a challenging role to play. "As an actor you have to defend your character, and how do you defend a man who did something so horrible? So that was very challenging. But I knew if wanted to play him that's what I had to do," he said. Some of the first people to view the film came away extremely impressed by what they'd just seen. One movie goer called the film "extremely depressing, hard and very impressive." "The character of Miss Kampusch impresses one even more afterwards," she said. Another said that "everybody knows that the story is true and more or less depicts what happened. That was so terrible and oppressive about the movie." Kampusch was kidnapped in 1998 when only ten years old and kept in the cellar of Prikopil's house where she was repeatedly abused by her captor until her escape in 2006.
