This video is a walkthrough of Tantegel in Dragon Quest II on the NES. Tantegel is the first location in the game visited by ship and also the first location which also appeared in the original Dragon Quest that the heroes visit. Right away, you might notice that the background music in Alefgard (the region where Tantegel is) is not the same as the rest of the world. Instead it is a remix of the music from the original Dragon Quest. This was a really nice touch by the designers of the game. Alefgard is much shrunken in this version of the game. This is mainly due to how large the designers made the rest of the world. Most locations do not exist in Dragon Quest II with a few exceptions (Tantegel, Swamp Cave, Charlock Castle, Southern Shrine). In Tantegel, you'll see that the nearby town of Brecconary has been annexed and combined into one small location. Tantegel is actually a completely optional town to visit in Dragon Quest II as it holds no key items or information. The king has barricaded himself in at the weapon shop and you cannot speak to him until you get the Golden Key.
