CUSTOMER SERVICE Customer Service is a hugely integral part to any business. If you don’t look after your customers, then you’ll quickly have no business at all. “Do a great job and your customer will tell 10 people, do a bad job and they’ll tell 100”. Gordon heads the customer service department for a property developer and has vast experience working for some of the UK’s largest developers. Gordon transitioned from an architectural assistant into customer service utilising his construction knowledge and learning about customer service on the job. Customer service interacts with many facets of the business (sales, construction, etc.) and is responsible for developing a whole host of a companies processes, checklists and procedures. They ensure the transition of a property goes as seamless as possible and that the property owner understands how their property functions, what items are covered under warranty and who to call should issues arise. You’ll often get involved with setting up managing agents for projects, ensuring a unit is complete to an acceptable standard before handover and managing handymen or organising specialists to rectify any issues that arise. Gordon provides great insight into the role as well as tips and advice for getting started.
