Source: @_jen_hamilton_ Swollen taste buds, often called “lie bumps,” usually happen when the tiny bumps on your tongue (papillae) get irritated or inflamed. This can be caused by things like accidentally biting your tongue, eating very spicy or acidic foods, irritation from sharp edges on teeth, or even minor infections. They’re generally harmless and tend to go away on their own within a few days once the irritation settles. What you shouldn’t do is try to pull them out or scratch them off. Doing so can make the irritation worse, increase the risk of infection, and slow down healing. The best approach is to leave them alone, manage any discomfort with soothing rinses like saltwater, and avoid irritating foods until they improve. If the swelling keeps coming back or doesn’t heal, that’s when it’s worth getting checked out by a healthcare professional. #mouth #tongue #pain
