WARNING: This demonstration video may contain some graphic scenes that may not be suitable for anyone under 18 years of age. Viewers discretion is advised. On January 10, 2026, an anti-immigration rally organized by the Canada First Movement took place at Nathan Phillips Square in downtown Toronto. The group protested mass immigration, calling for an end to unchecked immigration, the start of mass deportations and remigration, tighter border security, and the redirection of foreign aid money toward domestic priorities like housing, homelessness, healthcare, and mental health. They also expressed concerns about preserving Canadian cultural identity amid rapid demographic changes. A counter-protest, organized by Community Solidarity Toronto, also attended the rally and directly opposed it. Counter-protesters accused the Canada First group of promoting hate, xenophobia, and scapegoating immigrants for Canada’s affordability and resource crises. They emphasized that immigrants have historically helped build the country, celebrated multiculturalism, and carried signs welcoming newcomers while rejecting rhetoric they described as divisive and racist. The situation escalated into clashes near Queen Street West and Bay Street, resulting in Toronto police making 11 arrests. Reports and eyewitness footage indicate that all arrests were of counter-protesters—many described as Antifa-affiliated—for actions that included assaulting officers, obstructing the march, pulling down banners, and resisting arrest. The Canada First rally was able to continue and complete its march under police escort, with no arrests reported on their side. This video provides a neutral, fact-based breakdown of both sides, drawing from the original CBC report, on-the-ground accounts, and additional coverage. Is the “Canada First” position a legitimate concern about resources and identity, or are the counter-protesters correct that immigrants are being unfairly blamed?
