Looking to hear your thoughts ahead of tomorrow’s test session. I’m currently in pursuit of defining an ideal target weight — one that delivers a structurally strong, durable hull while still allowing for an efficient electric powertrain. Bob Agnew and I have been discussing the future of FE F1 rules, and we both feel that introducing a minimum weight limit could be a positive step toward leveling the playing field. It places the emphasis back on setup, driving, and efficiency rather than purely chasing ultra-light builds. As part of this process, I’ll be testing a 15% reduction in overall weight (±450g) to see whether it produces a noticeable change in: Running temperatures Electrical efficiency Potential speed gains It’s worth noting that increased speed doesn’t always equal improved performance — particularly in race conditions — which is exactly what makes this test interesting. Finding the sweet spot between longevity, strength, and efficiency is the real challenge. It’s a challenge well worth exploring now, before moving into larger-scale production of the LEGACY33 hulls. I’d really value your input: Thoughts on a minimum weight rule for FE F1 What outcomes you expect from the weight reduction test Let’s hear it — open discussion helps move the class forward.
