The abyss is a dangerous and an important biome in calamity mod. the abyss consists of 4 layers, the first 2 layers are relatively calm while and 3rd and 4th layers are pretty dangerous. there are a few mechanics in the abyss that you need to keep in mind LIGHT LEVEL - each layer of the abyss has a minimum light level requirement, if your light level is below that requirement, your vision will either decrease or completely black out depending on the amount of light level you have. light level can be increased by items which give off light in the abyss. any item which has "Gives off light in the abyss" in its description will increase your light level in the abyss. here is a small light level requirement chart for all layers - layer 1 - light level 1 layer 2 - light level 3 layer 3 - light level 5 layer 4 - light level 7 time stamps - pre-hardmode - 0:19 hardmode - 0:49 post-golem - 1:22 post-polterghast - 2:00
