Video by Vladimir London, a life Drawing Academy tutor: https://lifedrawing.academy/free In this video, we will continue the topic of anatomy for artists and how to use it for drawing figures from life, memory and imagination. Here’s one of my sketchbooks with female figures sketched from imagination. To make such drawings, an artist must know not only anatomy, but also construction and proportions of a human body. All these things you can learn in the Life Drawing Academy course. In the previous video, I demonstrated how to make a small model of the upper torso with accurate proportions and realistic anatomy. This model features numerous muscles with correct points of origin and insertion. And in this video, I will use this model to draw sketches of the upper body from various points of view. I will draw in pen and ink to speed up the process and make every line definite and final. Sketching in ink is a great way to polish your drawing skills because there is no room for errors as ink is not erasable. Such exercises train your hand and eye like no others. I will depict the shoulder blade together with the collar bone. To learn good figurative drawing skills, take the Life Drawing Academy online course: https://lifedrawing.academy This course is suitable for figurative artists who already have some experience and skills in constructive drawing. Principles of constructive drawing include linear and aerial perspective, drawing all objects as if they are transparent, using axes of symmetry, alignments, cross-points and intersections. They also include the theory of contours. When you know such principles, it is much easier to learn human body construction including anatomy and proportions. If you want to self-learn constructive drawing, you can check the Drawing Academy online course: https://drawingacademy.com This course comes with 46 multi-part video lessons on various topics including perspective and anatomy. However, if you feel that anatomy for artists is your weak skill and want to fill this gap in your drawing education, check out the Anatomy Master Class:https://anatomymasterclass.com This online course comes with 26 video lessons on the anatomy of a human body and head.
