I didn't have the greatest nights sleep and around 11:30 last night I was working out how many hours sleep I am going to get if I hike... not enough. My alarm went off at 4:30 this morning and I thought I would give it a miss. Anyway I have been wanting to do this hike for ages and got dressed and went. Hidden Ascension (the Fernydale variation) and Carrels Ledge (named after an Italian mountaineer Jean-Antoine Carrel), it was pretty breathtaking! Through the green lush forrest, lots of moss and thick vegetation, it was quite an accent with some tricky parts and a fair amount of exposure. Not a breath of wind, it did however get quite warm. I was the only thorn among 5 roses (the guys). Mike Wakeford (Guided by Mike, here in Cape Town) lead us on a real beautiful adventure, some insane rock cliffs and formations, some great scrambling with no margin for error. It was a picture perfect day and we ended off with the guys having a beer and I had some OJ on top of Table Mountain at the cafe. Really gorgeous day today! If you got the stomach for heights and some climbing then this hike is for you. The pics do no justice but give you an idea of how magicalitious this place is.
