Instrumental cover of the classic 1987 Graham Kendrick worship song "Shine, Jesus, Shine" (first line: "Lord, the light of Your love is shining"), played by Peter Tylor on the pipe organ at Holy Trinity Church, St Austell, Cornwall, a.k.a. St Austell Parish Church (NPOR K00221), 16/02/2020. Lord, the light of Your love is shining, In the midst of the darkness, shining: Jesus, Light of the world, shine upon us; Set us free by the truth You now bring us - Shine on me, shine on me. (Chorus:) Shine, Jesus, shine, Fill this land with the Father's glory; Blaze, Spirit, blaze, Set our hearts on fire. Flow, river, flow, Flood the nations with grace and mercy; Send forth Your word Lord, and let there be light! Lord, I come to Your awesome presence, From the shadows into Your radiance; By Your blood I may enter your brightness: Search me, try me, consume all my darkness - Shine on me, shine on me. (Chorus) As we gaze on Your kingly brightness So our faces display Your likeness, Ever changing from glory to glory: Mirrored here, may our lives tell Your story - Shine on me, shine on me. (Chorus) (Words and music by Graham Kendrick, b.1950; copyright © 1987 Make Way Music) To follow my recent recording of this song from Porthpean Church, here is another version from Holy Trinity - using, at the very end, a couple of pedal stops that I rarely employ: the Mixture and the Ophicleide (the loudest stop on this instrument!) It is most fitting that I should record this Kendrick classic here, as it was in connection with this fellowship - although not within these walls - that I first remember hearing it, way back in 1987, at an Easter Holiday Club outing to Colliford Lake. It was, of course, sung numerous times here over the ensuing decade, although (as far as I was aware) it was always played by the worship group, never on the organ; in fact, I do not remember hearing it played on any organ until well into the 1990s. As I mentioned in connection with my Porthpean recording of this song (and it is well worth repeating), Stephen Irvine suggested last June that I do a graphic design, as part of my Timespun Threads range, based on a mishearing of one of its lines: "Fill this land with the farmer's glory". This I duly did - and, when I posted the design on Instagram, it received the ultimate seal of approval: a "like" from Graham Kendrick's own account!!! / bzl6mi7n2qn Anyhow, for all Graham Kendrick fans with a similar sense of humour, this design is available on a wide range of products including T-shirts, mugs, notebooks and much more, from: https://www.redbubble.com/people/time... https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/516... More info about this design at: https://www.timespunthreads.com/farme...
