OUR FIRST TIME WATCHING THE BLACK PHONE (2022)!! In this Mom & Daughter Reacts video, Tessa (Mama’s Geeky) and her daughter Lorie finally take on one of the most terrifying modern horror films — The Black Phone (2022) — in celebration of Black Phone 2 now playing in theaters! This was our first time watching the movie, and wow… this film is absolutely terrifying. We were glued to the screen, jumping at every sound, and completely unsettled by Ethan Hawke’s chilling performance as The Grabber. Directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Doctor Strange), The Black Phone follows Finney (Mason Thames, How to Train Your Dragon), a shy 13-year-old boy abducted by a sadistic killer known as The Grabber (Ethan Hawke, Training Day, Moon Knight). Trapped in a soundproof basement with nothing but a disconnected black phone on the wall, Finney begins to receive eerie calls from the killer’s previous victims. Meanwhile, his brave sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw, Secrets of Sulphur Springs) experiences psychic visions that might be the key to saving him. We were completely shaken by the abduction scene, chilled during Finney’s phone calls with the ghostly boys, and cheering him on through the tense and brutal final showdown. Ethan Hawke is pure nightmare fuel — his masks, his voice, everything about him creeped us out to the core. Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw deliver stunning performances that make you care deeply about these siblings — their bond is what gives this movie its heart. As we prepare for Black Phone 2, this first film reminded us exactly why it became an instant horror classic. It’s terrifying, emotional, and full of shocking moments that stay with you long after the credits roll.
