These are the Opening Day ceremonies at the New York Mets' 2025 home opener at the Citi Field stadium prior to their game against the Toronto Blue Jays, April 4, 2025. It's not the complete ceremony, just the introduction of the Mets players. We begin our presentation with a look at the "Opening Day" graphics as shown on the right field video board. From there, we go right into the introduction of the Mets players and staff. I decided not to include the visiting team introductions. Only the starters for Toronto were introduced by name, and it should be noted that when first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr was introduced (he was batting second), there were cheers. Therefore, our presentation segues from the "Opening Day" graphics to emcee Howie Rose's conclusion of the visitors' introductions: "Fans, the 2025 Toronto Blue Jays." After a short hype video, which you can see on the video board in the right field corner, the Mets are introduced, beginning with what I call the "specialized" staff. Unlike previous seasons, when they were all individually introduced by name, this year they received a generic introduction similar to that of the Toronto non-starters: "We begin with the best in the business - members of the Mets clubhouse staff, performance staff, kitchen staff, the Major League strategy team, and video staff." Next, the Mets' coaches, followed by the non-starting roster (introduced in uniform number order), then the starters. The passing of Ed Kranepool is noted, and it is announced that the Mets would be wearing a patch bearing his uniform #7 in his honor this season. Following this, an "In Memoriam" presentation honoring members of the Mets, baseball and sports families who passed away since the end of the previous season: • Jack DiLauro • Lou Carnesecca • Lenny Randle • Rocky Colavito • Felix Mantilla • Bob Uecker • Jeff Torborg • Fay Vincent • Mark Bradley • Ron Locke • Al Trautwig • Miller Gardner • Tommie Reynolds • Rickey Henderson • Sarah Seaver The national anthems are next. I was going to include them in my video, but technical problems with my phone during the performance of the American national anthem prevented me from recording it in its entirety, so I decided to forego the anthems and conclude the presentation at that point. The video fades out after the first couple of lines of "O Canada." The video was shot from section 525, row 1, seat 14. (20250404_143700)
