It is also a perfect choice for any Sub collector who has a hard time doing without the date feature or who wishes to expand their collection. Why ? First of all, it finds itself in an excellent overall condition and it offers the “Mark I” dial manufactured by Lemrich, which has as profound black finish and the centered Rolex crown and secondly it is one of the very last 1680 ever made. Produced in 1979, its serial number is above 6 millions, which is quite rare to find. Unlike some other Rolex sports models, the dial version does not depend on the manufacturing period, so it is normal to find a Mark I in a late 1680. The watch was serviced and is running perfectly. The Mark I dial is flawless, the patina is harmonious and the case in excellent condition. It also comes with its original silver date wheel. Very nice and consistent piece ! Our comments : The 1680 is the only Submariner to feature a plexi glass and the date. It also does it in a very special way, thanks to its very high plexi and its cyclop, which brings a special look and makes the 1680 a de facto collector. This particular piece finds itself in an excellent condition and its dial is just gorgeous. Here is a vintage sports watch which looks sporty but also dressier than many of the “dress” watches of today, thanks to its class, sobriety, elegance and perfect proportions. Voilà une très belle 1680 pour qui recherche un tel modèle. Et pour tous les collectionneurs de Submariner qui ont du mal à se passer de la date ou qui souhaitent compléter leur collection, c’est aussi une pièce idéale. Pour quelles raisons ? Tout d’abord elle se trouve en superbe état général, elle dispose du cadran « Mark I » produit par Lemrich, qui est d’un noir profond et qui offre le logo Rolex centré sous la couronne, et enfin celle-ci fait partie des toutes dernières 1680 produites. Une 1680 sortie en 1979 avec un numéro de série à plus de 6 millions est en effet peu courante. Contrairement à certains modèles chez Rolex, le type de cadran ne dépend pas de la chronologie de la fabrication et il est donc tout à fait normal de trouver des Mark I en fin de production. Le montre a été révisée et fonctionne parfaitement. Le cadran Mark I est tout simplement parfait et la patine de l’ensemble l’est également. Très beau dateur « argent » d’origine, très belle boîte…une très belle pièce, très cohérente. Notre commentaire : La 1680 est la seule Submariner a concilier verre plexi et date. Elle le fait de manière tout à fait spéciale également, avec son verre « cheminée » et son cyclope, ce qui lui confère un look bien à elle et qui en fait un collector de facto. Celle-ci est dans un état splendide et son cadran est une merveille, en conjonction avec le plexi il renvoie la lumière de manière exceptionnelle. Une montre de sport de jadis qui apparaît toutefois plus habillée que bon nombre de montres « habillées » d’aujourd’hui, de par sa classe, son intemporalité, sa chaleur et ses proportions ! C’est aussi cela l’attrait des Rolex vintage, des pièces qui grâce à leur patine et leur coup de crayon magique deviennent des inclassables !
