Roof Repair, Stamping & 4680 Cell Equip Deliveries & More! 20 Dec 2024 Giga Texas Update (07:35AM)

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car! Busy day on this day before the Winter Solstice and the weekend before Christmas! Many interesting developments all over the site today including on the west side at and near the Boring Company Cybertunnel, End-of-Line (EOL) and the West Warehouse on Wheels (WOW) Yard. We also see more glass being installed on the southeast side of the factory extension and the white stain application on the exterior concrete wall panels on that side is nearly completed too. Timestamps: Drone flight overview with discussion & illustration: 0:06 to 5:41 Drone flight footage & infographics: 6:04 to 32:48 On the west side of the factory near the 4680 battery cell production section, we see tow big developments. The first is the concrete forms have been removed and concrete poured in the area where either accessibility ramps or a new entrance feature for the factory is taking shape. Inside, I think I saw what appears to be entry checkpoints and turn styles for employees, so this could be a new security checkpoint for shift changes. The second big development in this area is the assembly of a large crane today At first I was not sure what this was for, but then I looked on the roof in this same section and realized this is where the entire weatherproof membrane had been damaged and had been leaking before emergency repairs were made and bricks used to keep the membrane from lifting off and leaking again. Crews were busy stripping off some of the membrane so what I think is going on here is the replacement of the roofing materials. This is long overdue, and I bet Tesla is happy to get this work underway. On the north end of the 4680 cell production area, I noticed two large trucks delivering assembly line sections with rollers and electrical equipment already assembled. These modular parts are for the expanded production lines, now totally 8 for the 4680s, and this is another great sign that production ramping will continue well into 2025! At the electrical switchyard, I noticed the graded and cleared rectangular site just to the south had screw-type piers delivered and several had already been installed. The last time we saw something like this was on the north part of the existing Megapack site where the steel structures and support beams were installed for the electrical power systems. We might be seeing something similar beginning construction in this area now! In addition, more assembly of new steel beams, electrical equipment and various parts to the 3rd large transformer were underway in the main switchyard and crews were stringing the high-tension wires onto the two newly assembled A-Frames. It appears work is moving quickly with the expansion of the power systems that support Giga Texas and specifically, the new Cortex Datacenter.
