The best dance music records are often the ones that seem the most simple. Intro, by French musicians Alan Braxe and Fred Falke, is a prime example. Released in 2000 on Braxe’s Vulture Music label, Intro samples its refrain from The Jets’ 1985 hit Crush on You, that main hook augmented by a minimal combination of crisp sampled percussion and a silky, grooving bassline played by Falke. As the pair prepare to reissue Intro for its 25th anniversary – complete with new remixes from each producer – we sat down with them in London's Strongbox studios, with a rented SP-1200 and bass guitar, to watch them rebuild Intro in all its beautiful simplicity.
