GetSportsFocus.com - by: Kaleigh Krish The Folsom Bulldogs rolled over the Oceanside Pirates to take home their second Division I State Championship. This was Oceanside’s third state championship appearance, winning in 2007 and 2009. Aided by a roughing the kicker penalty the Pirates would score on their first drive, 10-plays for 68 yards to give them the early 7-0 lead. This was the first time Folsom trailed an opponent all season, but it wouldn't last long. Folsom would answer immediately with an 11-play, 78-yard drive. A short pass to RB Tre Green would put the Bulldogs in scoring position. QB Jake Browning would do the honors, running the ball in for a four-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7. Browning would have the kind of night that was expected from the senior. On top of tying the national record of 91 touchdowns in a single season, he now holds the national record for the most career touchdowns with 229. Not only was the offense having their best game, scoring on all nine of their drives, the defense was on their game as well. The defense would put up 10 sacks, seven in just the first half. Five of those sacks came from DE Lukas Hendricks. Oceanside QB Matthew Romero was also sacked on the last play of the game and fumbled. LB Bailey Laolagi was there to recover and return the ball for the final touchdown of the night bringing the score to 68-7. 16 consecutive running clocks, more than 54 points per game, and 915 points on the season… What a perfect way for the Folsom Bulldogs to end their remarkable season, as State Champions.
