Michael Clarke in conversation with Shane Warne:: 'I think England deserve a lot of credit. I think they showed us how to execute good swing bowling, good seam bowling throughout this series. We have to be very honest and say we were outplayed, there's no doubt about it. I have one more Test and that will be the end of my career. I am retiring from International cricket. I certainly don't want to jump the ship and leave the boys in the middle, so I'll play the last Test at The Oval, give it one last crack, but the time is right now mate. You never want to walk away from the game, but I think my performances in the series and over the last 12 months have not been acceptable to me. I pride myself on leading from the front, so that's been disappointing. I think you build yourself up for big tournaments and big series. One-day cricket is about the World Cup and Test cricket is about the Ashes. I certainly tried my best, the boys have tried their best. We got outplayed, we got beaten and now it's time for the next generation of players or the next captain to have his opportunity to try and build the team again and get ready for the next Ashes series.' It has to be though, for a brief period, David Warner and Chris Rogers gave them a glimmer of hope. But once both of them were dismissed, the tourists hurtled towards a defeat. Voges played with a touch of calm countenance, but he hardly got any support. For the home team, Stokes was the star performer in the second innings. When the hosts were searching for wickets, he generated prodigious swing to dismantle the batting line-up and took his second five-wicket haul in Tests. He also took a spectacular catch in the first innings. In short, England have just been the better side in this series. Even their slip fielding, which has been a cause of concern for about two years now was largely good in this series. Only on day 2 at Trent Bridge were England below par as they dropped catches. The tourists though, have a lot to ponder, as their batsmen have struggled to play the moving ball, and the pacers on occasions, lacked the control. They will be playing for pride in the last Test at The Oval, which starts on 20th of August. It will turn out to be the final game for Michael Clarke in international cricket. Clarke announced his retirement after the completion of the fourth Test.
