(4k) Sunny winter afternoon walk from Friday 18 August, 2023. Starting from Thorndon, we tour down to Wellington Station Bus Interchange, ending at Wellington Railway Station. Starting at Katherine Mansfield Memorial Park (on Fitzherbert Terrace) with lush nature and beautiful water features, we walk passing the US Embassy which has friendly security guards. Down Murphy Street passing New World, Thorndon Swimming Pool, Thorndon Chippery, and Wellington Girls College. Down Mulgrave Street passing Archives New Zealand and Subway. Onto Lambton Quay where the Wellington Station Bus Interchange is. The Wellington Station Bus Interchange over the past several months, has undergone major changes. Particularly, the east side of the interchange, with a new bus platform layout. And traffic lights replacing the zebra pedestrian crossing at the bottom of Molesworth Street, connecting the west side with the east side of the interchange. This allows more organised and easier throughfare for pedestrians and bus traffic, especially during morning (7am-9am) and afternoon (3pm-6pm) peak.
