Preserving the past can build a stronger future by creating jobs and sparking investment. For nearly two decades, Ohio has encouraged developers on this front. The latest round of grants will rehabilitate nearly a thousand historic buildings. Developers say support is critical, not just for saving history, but for shaping what's next. More than 120 years ago, Cleveland businessman Benjamin Rose built what was then the largest office building in Ohio. Today, the Rose Building still stands tall at East 9th and Prospect. But workers no longer fill the offices. Now, Spark GHC is bringing it back to life. "As you can see, this portion of the building has been historically renovated to its true grandeur," stated Bhavin Patel, the Co-Founder and Principal at Spark GHC. He showed 3News around the building, starting with the main entrance off of East 9th Street that will soon lead to 154 luxury apartments with sweeping views of downtown Cleveland. On Prosect, the future entrance to a boutique 123-room hotel. This unique combination is the first of its kind in the U.S., offering apartment living and a hotel under the Marriott brand.
