CARS OF THE 1990s! Modern Classics & Youngtimers

As many cars of the 1990s are 30+ years old now and elligible for various classic car events in the Modern Classics / Youngtimers categories, it seems like the right time to cast a light over these fast-disappearing cars. In this compilation I've gathered together 180+ images of cars from the 1990s that were available in the UK. In some cases the examples that are included may have been built just outside of that decade but represent cars that were for sale new within the 1990-2000 time period. Cars such as the Ford Sierra, Jaguar XJ6 (XJ40 style), Vauxhall Astra Mk2, Nissan Bluebird, Renault 25, Rover 600 and Vauxhall Frontera were all regular sights in the 1990s and were largely anonymous and ubiquitous pieces of mobile road furniture at the time, yet now due to scrappage schemes and the passage of time are becoming scarce. Those that survive act as a reminder of that motoring decade. In my mind I think the late 1990s/early 2000s represent peak motor car, there were sufficient gadgets such as electric windows and central locking to make life easier, allied to enough technology to make cars reliable, incorporated within bodywork that - with a few exceptions - didn't tend to rot away in front of the owner's eyes and still featured sensible amounts of glazing to make parking possible without the need for reversing cameras. Since then cars appear to have become needlessly complex and bloated abominations that offer few real benefits over those on offer back in the 1990s.
