Hello! Today we walk in Helsinki, Maunula District. Maunula has been built on the lands of the Oulunkylä estate since 1946. Most of the apartment buildings were built in the 1950s and 1970s. The name Maunula comes from Monsas farm. Part of the lands of Monsas was located in the Maunula region. However, the main building of the Monsas farm was and is still located in Patola, Oulunkylä. The Maunula area was joined to Helsinki in a large regional union in 1946. The area was undeveloped except for the western villa area. The site plan of the area was confirmed in 1958. Construction started in 1949 in the northern part of the area, where Puu-Maunula rose. Maunula was supposed to be built as a villa town like Oulunkylä, but due to the housing shortage, the construction was intensified. Maunula became a subdivision of Oulunkylä district in 1959.
