Hello friends, in today's evening 4k walking tour, we will walk around the center of Prague. We will start at Republic Square and end at Kafka's head. 00:00 Republic Square (Náměstí Republiky) is a city square in Prague, Czech Republic, lying at the Old Town and New Town boundary. These significant buildings are on the Square or near the vicinity: Kotva Department Store, Municipal House, Powder Tower, Czech National Bank, and Palladium shopping mall. The Square leads to Na příkopě street, the most expensive street among all states of the V4, connecting it with Wenceslas Square. https://goo.gl/maps/kmvqxk3bfMQtFsV89 02:50 Na prikope (Na Příkopě) is a street in the center of Prague, Czech Republic, connecting Wenceslas Square with Republic Square. It separates the Old Town from the New Town. It is a place of representative buildings, including the headquarters of the Czech National Bank, old palaces, and luxurious shops. Na Příkopě street leads to the site of the former 10-meter-wide and 8-meter-deep moat from 1234, which led along the medieval walls of the Old Town. Water flowed directly from the Vltava river, and the Old Town formed a closed island when the moat was filled. The moat was covered in 1760. After wrapping, chestnut trees were planted here, and the street was named Ve starých alejích (In old alleys). In 1845-70 the street was named Kolowratská třída, and since 1871 bears the name Na Příkopě. Because it was one of the few vast streets in Prague, it soon became a traffic artery. In 1875, the first line of the Prague horse-drawn tram was elected here in 1899. In 1919, Můstek became the first intersection in Prague controlled by a traffic policeman. In 1927, then the second intersection with the light signaling. On the street appeared many new stores, and it became an important business center of Prague's promenade. https://goo.gl/maps/J7Juep5ZLf7ECfz36 09:50 Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí) This Square is the commercial and administrative center of the city as well as the site of important social and historical events. Here you'll find cinemas, theatres, banks, hotels, restaurants, dozens of small and large shops, and administrative centers. The Square was created during the founding of the New Town by Charles IV in 1348. Today it is dominated by the National Museum (1885 – 1891) and Josef Václav Myslbek's statue of the national patron St Wenceslas from 1912. https://goo.gl/maps/4C4b9oxSomwN7NLHA 15:15 Franciscan Garden (Františkánská zahrada) is a unique natural oasis in the city center and is furnished with several benches spanning metal arches laden with roses in the summer. Lawn areas are separated by low-yew hedges. The garden is completed with several exciting sculptures, fountains, a gazebo, a playground, fruit trees, and herb beds, which harken back to the former owners, the Carmelites, and the Franciscans, who once grew herbs and spices here. A small garden by the Church of Virgin Mary of the Snow between the squares Václavské náměstí and Jungmannovo náměstí has initially been a much greater medieval garden of the Carmelite Monastery after 1348 within the framework of the early development of the New Town (Nové město). Since 1604 it has already been the property of the Order of the Discalced Franciscans, who have restored it several times. The garden had a vital utility function with herbal, flower, vegetable beds, and fruit trees; the Franciscans grew spices here. When the monastery and the neighboring church were plundered by the Prague scum and country robber gangs, it was re-established in the 18th century. The central pavilion was renewed with a ceiling decorated with frescoes realized by monk Benedict. The western wing used to have a summer refectory, and the monastery pharmacy and a well were trenched by the Northern wall. Later on, a decorative fountain was built with statues of the saints. https://goo.gl/maps/eDwtcTrAh7o9WkoA7 22:30 The Head of Franz Kafka (Hlava Franze Kafky), also known as the Statue of Kafka, is an outdoor sculpture by David Černý depicting Bohemian German-language writer Franz Kafka, installed outside the Quadrio shopping center in Prague, Czech Republic. The kinetic sculpture is 11 meters tall and made of 42 rotating panels. Each layer is mechanized and rotates individually. https://goo.gl/maps/mh2XPC4ApewD2zAo9 Recorded in 4k 60fps HDR Perception Philosophy © 2022 October 26, 2022 Czech Republic ASMR
