From the liner notes: Born in 1980 and raised in a small village near the forest of Fontainbleau, 40 miles south of Paris, Myrtille has been fascinated with nature, international music and travel since she was a young girl. The minute she was old enough to travel on her own she visited the Caribbean, Brazil, Senegal and the rainforests of Guyana, picking up musical inspiration wherever she went. Her diverse influences range from French singers Serge Gainsbourg and Georges Brassens to Mexican-American singer Lhasa, African artists Youssou N’Dour and Touré Kunda and Brazilian icons CaetanoVeloso and Chico Buarque—among others. Signed to AZ, an imprint of Universal France, Myrtille released her first album in 2004. Myrtille sings,“I have written heaps of pages / On different types of paper / Pieces of daydreams, pieces of voyages /And often words for you / I will add a few sentences to end the story in a different way / I open it up so that words may fly away / And may be blown in the wind.”
