Nowadays, Maroons can and participate fully in national and international activities. This sixth part of the documentary series is the third part about the participation of the Maroons in national politics. Gaanman Agbago Aboikoni van de Saamaka is the trendsetter for the 'Own Maroon Representation in Parliament (now DNA)'. He came during his lifetime to the conclusion that no one can serve your interests better than yourself. However, gaanman Agbago Aboikoni didn’t mean by this "Serving the personal interests” (as it goes so far), but serving the public interest (the interest of the Maroons) by the person or persons they have chosen to represent them. The first Maroon who became Member of Parliament is Wilfred Liefde, the second is Jarien Gadden, the third is Sam Vreede and the fourth is Paulus Fransman. Gaanman Agbago Aboikoni van de Saamaka is trendsetter voor de 'Eigen Marron Vertegenwoordiging in het parlement (nu DNA)'. Hij vond tijdens zijn leven dat niemand jouw belangen beter kan behartigen dan jijzelf. Gaanman Agbago Aboikoni bedoelde hiermee echter niet 'het dienen van de persoonlijke belangen' (zoals het tot nu toe gaat), maar het dienen van het algemeen belang (het belang van de Marrons) door de persoon of personen die ze hebben gekozen om hen te vertegenwoordigen. De eerste Marron die lid werd van het Parlement is Wilfred Liefde, de tweede is Jarien Gadden, de derde is Sam Vreede en de vierde is Paulus Fransman.
