We visited with Aaron Keefer, Head of Cultivation at Sonoma Hills Farm in Petaluma in the rustic Century Barn which was filled with this year's hemp harvest drying all around us. It's such a treat to visit this gorgeous farm so close to home. Sonoma Hills Farm is biodynamic, CCOF and Sun+Earth certified, and farm is full of diverse plants and creatures - with not only cannabis (grown in a fenced area rather than as Aaron would prefer, spread out and rotated over several acres with other crops). The conversation flowed as we discussed the history and future of the farm, Aaron's background as a chef and gardener for French Laundry in Napa, the ideal climate for sungrown in Sonoma County and the challenges of the industry.
