The Tower of London is one of the most famous and notorious castles and prisons in the world. It originally was made following the Norman Conquest and today still remains a Royal Fortress. Throughout its history there have been many high profile executions and imprisonments there, including the beheading of 3 Queens of England. There has been much torture also happen there at the Tower, but there has been some inhabitants that have been around at the Tower for centuries. Ravens have been kept inside the Tower of London for hundreds of years, and they today remain a popular attraction that tourists flock to see. There is a tale how it was during the reign of Charles II who initiated the legend that 'If the Ravens of the Tower of London leave, then England and the Monarchy will fall.' This legend is believed still today, and that's one reason why the Ravens are kept there. During the Second World War, even Winston Churchill would order that the Tower's Ravens be added to in number following the Blitz where a number were killed. For centuries ravens have been kept, and they are looked after today by the Ravenmaster. There are interesting stories of ravens who were sacked from their duties, for example one who starting eating TV Aerials. Also other stories centre around Ravens flying away, including one who was last seen outside a Pub in London. More recently, one of the Tower's Ravens Merlina left the Tower, and it's possible that she left the Tower and has died since.
