Todays video features my least favorite gardening chore to date - removing an "invasive" plant, the Chameleon Plant, from my landscape garden without chemicals AKA a LOT of digging. However, it is incredibly necessary to maintain my landscape garden's health and beauty. Though this plant can be beautiful and thrive in poor soil including boggy and wet areas (such as a pond) or even in the landscape if you're looking for a voracious grower that will spread rapidly and quickly, yet may take over everything else in sight squeezing out light, nutrients, and the health of your other plants in your garden bed. I didn't fit this in the video, but I chose to use a non-chemical approach because I may end up growing edible plants in this area too and I prefer not to have chemicals involved in something my family may eat in the future. Don't fall for this plant at your local garden center unless you KNOW it is what you're looking for (ie. to be the king of whatever area you're planting it in with no boundaries of spread and reign)! I planted this late last summer, so less than a year ago, and it had already grown EVERYWHERE underground. I cannot imagine several years passing and trying to get it out, especially without chemicals. If you're in this situation, I recommend asking a local garden center or landscaping company what the best approach can be in this situation. Enjoy and happy planting - or removing in this case! -Steph
