When the normal capsule your body forms around a breast implant gets hard. Who is at risk for capsular contracture? This can happen to anyone but people are more at risk if they are smokers, have their implants placed through a peri areolar incision or above the muscle. What would a revision surgery for capsular contracture be? In this case the patient had an implant exchange with a capsulectomy. What is a capsulectomy? The hard tissue that has formed around the implant and the implant itself are removed. What other options are there for a breast revision surgery be? Lots! An implant exchange, implant removal, or a breast left with or without implants.
