Vauxhall Parkour Spot + Zen Archery Practice with my good friend Rolando. Some general themes were initially to touch the other person but avoid being touched (classic Zen Archer), which evolved into pushing hands with attempts to 'lift' or take the other person down, which then morphed to staying in contact with one wrist (this hand was allowed to 'attack' to tag the sternum) and the other free arm playing Zen Archer. You could block/misdirect the arm connected at the wrist and dodge the free arm... well it blurred into more than that eventually. Huge thank you to Tom Weksler for his inspiration and giving us tools "to create a practice of movement which lies in the space between fight and gestures-free expression." More on my thoughts about Tom's work here: http://www.benmedder.com/blog/2014/8/... Also thanks to Ido Portal/Joseph Bartz, who initially introduced the Zen Archer game to me and whose teaching helped inspire. To Rafe Kelley who's Roughhousing and watching him play similar capoeira based games with his partners using the trees as part of the game. And also numerous martial arts. What came from whom almost becomes indistinguishable. Video edited/put together by Rolando - great job my friend. For more information: http://www.benmedder.com / benmeddercoaching / benmedder
