This is a discussion with Dr. John Pandolfino on his recent publication "Esophageal motility disorders on high‐resolution manometry: Chicago classification version 4.0©" published in the current issue of Neurogastroenterology and Motility journal Volume 33, Issue 1January 2021 (https://doi.org/10.1111/nmo.14058). Dr. John Pandolfino is the chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Hans Popper Professor in the Department of Medicine at Northwestern University. He is current president of American Neurogastroenterology and the Motility society and the chair of the Neurogastroenterology & Motility section of the American Gastroenterology Association Council. He has been the tour de force behind developing the Chicago Classification since its inception in 2009 - providing manometric criteria for categorizing esophageal motility disorders. He joins us to discuss the key changes proposed in the latest iteration of Chicago classification for esophageal motility disorders and provides the reasoning behind these changes.
