Another day in my life as a software engineer at Microsoft. This week I am on-call and I thought it would be fun to share my experience with you. I made a video similar to this recently but every day in my life is very different. Especially when I am on-call. I can be paged at any time throughout the day between 6 AM and 10 PM. When I get paged I basically have to drop everything that I am doing and try to mitigate/root cause the issue that led the page/alert to fire. This is probably the most stressful aspect of being a software engineer. There are of course teams and companies that may not have on-call rotations. It really varies and some people even have to be on call 24/7 for 7 days a week. I want to thank everyone that recently subscribed to my channel. I hope to continue to improve my content.
