How to Write the Letter "k" Uppercase K The uppercase K is made with one vertical line and two slanted lines. The Downstroke: Start at the top and draw a straight vertical line down to the bottom. The First Slant: Lift your pencil. Go back to the top of the line you just drew. From there, draw a slanted line out to the right, stopping at the middle. The Second Slant: From the middle of the vertical line, draw a second slanted line out to the right, down to the bottom. Lowercase k The lowercase k is similar but smaller and starts slightly below the top line. The Downstroke: Start just below the top line and draw a straight vertical line down to the bottom line. The First Slant: Lift your pencil. Go back to the top of that line. Draw a small, slanted line out to the right, stopping at the middle line. The Second Slant: From the middle of the vertical line, draw another small, slanted line out to the right, down to the bottom line.
