In this video a multi viewer is mounted on top of the manual camera for showing the inputs of the cameras together with preview and program from the video switcher. Two robotic cameras from Panasonic and an ATEM switcher from Blackmagic Design are connected as well. Video switching can be done regular style by selecting a preview and then using CUT or AUTO for transition. If an input is held down for about 1 second, it will go directly to program. Direct to program can be enabled by holding down the CUT button after which it will flash. Input sources can then be selected instantly to program, which is handy in a fast production. Holding down the CUT button again disables the “direct to program” mode. The joystick on the remote adjusts the PTZ cameras, and the mode of operation can be selected by the SmartSwitch. One mode is pan and tilt, whereas the second mode is zoom (up & down w/joystick) and pan (left & right w/joystick). The SmartSwitch can recall PTZ camera presets with the help of graphical representation. You toggle between the presets by pressing the left SmartSwitch, and the preset menu will immediately show a progress bar running out. Once it has run out, the selected preset will be recalled. If the button is pressed before the timeout, you move on to the next preset selection. A preset can be adjusted with the joystick and stored on the fly by holding down the preset key. Presets are different for each PTZ camera connected, so when a robotic camera is on preview, it will be the preset bank of that cameras, which are available through the SmartSwitch.
