The Importance of First Impressions

First impressions matter — and culture doesn’t happen by accident. At Energy Electric, we work on our culture every single day. And that effort starts before a new hire even walks through the door. When someone accepts a position with us, I send them a personal video introduction. It’s five to ten minutes of me introducing myself, talking about who we are, where we’re going, and what they can expect. It doesn’t take much effort, but it sets the tone from the very first interaction. We have a few new hires starting soon. They’ve already received my introduction video, and I’ll meet with them again on their first morning to go deeper into who we are and how we operate. If you’re serious about culture, it requires a full-on approach from day one. If you’re not intentional at the beginning, you’ll spend the rest of the time playing catch-up.
