Being debt free is very much worth it. But every decision any of us make has consequences. Good or bad. Becoming debt free has had an enormous amount of good consequences, but also a couple of things we wish we had done something to avoid during the middle of paying off all of our debt. • Our Budget Template (free): http://www.mikeandbrit.com/budget • Our Debt Payoff Organizer: https://www.mikeandbrit.com/debt-orga... • Our Robinhood Invite Code (grab a free stock): https://join.robinhood.com/michaem27270 •Gear We Use for Our YouTube Videos: https://www.amazon.com/shop/mikethema... •Instagram: / itsmikeandbrit The first thing we wish we had done differently was not allow our credit score to disappear during the five years after becoming debt free. The good thing about this one is it's totally avoidable if you want to avoid it. Or, if you don't care about not having a credit score, that's great to! Originally we were fine without having a credit score, but the issue we eventually ran into from not having one was it made getting a mortgage a lot more difficult. Not impossible (manual underwriting) but just more of a headache than it already is. We decided that getting a credit card to put normal monthly expenses on was worth it to us to raise our score back to the 800s. If you're following Dave Ramsey like we were, you'll probably understand he's against credit cards. So this is something we're straying from him on. Our second regret is a lot more difficult to put into words and explain. But it's a sort of "financial limbo" that resulted from being extremely frugal over the 3 years it took us to become debt free, and then most of the following 5 years to finish saving an emergency fund and down payment for our house. We're in this weird spot where we're still extremely frugal, but also want to spend money on things we want. We're in a fairly good financial situation right now, so we feel like given our position in life now, it would make a lot more sense to splurge every now and then on things we just "want." BUT, at the same time we feel really weird about spending money on ANYTHING we don't need. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Books that Will Change Your Life ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • The Total Money Makeover: https://amzn.to/3hoVIDz • Richest Man in Babylon: https://amzn.to/3DNmTjg • Rich Dad Poor Dad: https://amzn.to/3TgujRQ • The Little Book of Common Sense Investing: https://amzn.to/3UgqmxR • 48 Days to the Work You Love: https://amzn.to/3zV7ewY • See You at the Top: https://amzn.to/3tbHiJH • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: https://amzn.to/3zY3KKd • Psycho-Cybernetics: https://amzn.to/3Ukj1xd • 7 Levels of Communication: https://amzn.to/3UBiLth • Twelve Pillars: https://amzn.to/3WGcePP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GEAR WE USE ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sony a6400 - https://amzn.to/2YyGFy1 Sony a6600 - https://amzn.to/3Br8R4q Sony 10-18mm f/4 - https://amzn.to/2DuIMpf Sigma 16mm f/1.4 - https://amzn.to/2ZpYZW5 Sony 50mm f/1.8 - https://amzn.to/2Dtob4D Manfrotto 290 Xtra - https://amzn.to/2GEvKYg Manfrotto 3-Way Photo Head - https://amzn.to/2IOjNAw ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Legal Disclaimer: Michael Miller is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.
