This is going to be your source of illumination. Most these days use integrated LED modules, meaning they are energy efficient and will last for years over standard incandescent bulbs. The downside is that, when the LED burns out, the entire track head may need to be replaced. Luckily, replacing a track head is an easy task. When selecting your track heads, look for adjustable designs so you can aim the light where you need it. You can mix and match colors and finishes, along with light type and other features, to your preference. In general, you will want to place track heads every 12" to 24" on your track system. For specific uses, such as lighting a work area, you can place the heads closer together. However, keep them at least 4" apart. Next, it's time to select your track. Choose your track depending on the size of the room and features you would like to illuminate. Tracks come in lengths of two, four, and eight feet and can be configured into a wide ranger of shapes and sizes depending on your needs. The next important step in building your track lighting system is selecting your power feed option. There are three ways to power your track system. First is using a live-end feed if you have a junction box nearby and accessible to your track system. Second, you can use a floating canopy if the junction box is not near your track system. This installs anywhere along your track. You run your electrical feed from the junction box to the canopy, which provides power to the track system. Lastly, there are some power feeds which simply plug into your wall outlets, helpful for wall track installations. The last step in building your custom track lighting system is to select the connectors. Connectors are used to add length to tracks, turn corners, or branch out in any direction. For example, a T-connector splits your track off into two new lengths. L-connectors make right-angle turns. There are also specialized pieces, such a flexible accordion connectors for creating soft bends and curves. As a final tip, the manufacturer matters when building your custom track lighting system. Most components from one brand will not fit on another brand's system. However, there are exceptions. Track lighting components will always clearly state if they can be used on systems from other brands. Make sure to check the compatibility and brands before you buy. And with that, you are ready to begin designing your perfect track lighting system. ________________________ Visit our website & subscribe to our channel for more videos!
