Settling Into Narrowboat Life: Unpacking, Diesel Heaters, Repairs and First Night Onboard

In this video, I have a few days settling into life on my narrowboat. After a stressful four-day journey relocating the boat to Croperdy Marina on the Oxford Canal, it’s time to organise things. From unloading a car packed to the brim in a game of “car Tetris” to figuring out where everything fits on the boat, I start to tackle life onboard a narrowboat. I hooked up the shoreline electricity, troubleshot dim control panel lights, and learned how some of the boat’s systems work, including the electrics, water, gas, and heating. There was some damage to inspect (and repair!) following my earlier mishaps with a bridge and hedgerows on the Oxford Canal. I successfully fixed the cratch cover and cleaned up the exterior. After some trial and error, I got the diesel stove up and running, warming the boat and making it feel like home. I learnt that webastos are easy; diesel stoves are a little more tricky.
