2 tubes of greenglue used, and 2/3 of a tube of green glue accoustic sealant, over an area of 2 to 2.5x 4x8' drywall pieces... so i guess only 40% of recommended amount of greenglue. 2nd layer of drywall added, except for 2 small minor pieces. there are many cuts / additional pieces, as the box was designed to be taken apart for moving. i think it has some degrading performance effects, but overall based on the seal, might be 5%-10% difference if sealed better... based on putting pressure on door to make seal or not. Results!!! --- again from my phone. hauwii p10 plus \w +10db added for "calibration." various devices tested to give a reference point. ambient apartment sound level 30db music 65-70db =) 32-35db - 32db above box. vacuum 65-70db, at 70db "super saiyan mode". 40-45db while vacuum is 70db. 35db above box. trimmer 55-60db =) 40db and 38db above the box. trimmer \w felt, 1-2 db higher. 35 db and 32db above the box trimmer mounted in shapeoko... 51-52db! =) 31db and 30db above the box. will still go on to improving sound proofing via finishing touches, putty, more sealant, and hooking up via outlet inside. --- don't know if the 2nd layer of drywall is worth it. i definitely noticed a difference with the music, but barely any difference with mechanical devices / vibrations. again, don't know how much of an effect green glue is having. shits expensive. maybe later on, can do a build without greenglue to see if there is a difference. considering the price of drywall, and how expensive greenglue is... maybe best just get extra thick drywall. overall, i think the insulation has had the most effect on sound proofing, and the drywall has amplified the effect. roxul is sound absorbing ( aka slowing ), and drywall is sound blocking ( and reflecting. think of it like a mirror ). i think putting drywall on the inside would not be very beneficial, as it is a small space, which could cause a sound amplifying effect. --- Test #1: • Roxul Sound Proofing Insulation Test / Sha... -- insulation only Test #2: • Roxul Sound Proofing Insulation + Drywall ... -- insulation + 1 layer drywall Test #3: • Roxul Sound Proofing + 2x Drywall Layers &... -- insulation + 2 layers of drywall (with greenglue inbetween) Test #4: Coming soon... more or less... need to play around with my cnc router now :)
