This is Living PS3 advert in 1080p. This is the original launch advert for the PlayStation 3 in the UK & Europe which was shown on UK TV screens in the run-up to the release on the 27th March 2007. Whilst many low-quality copies are available to view on YouTube this is the best quality you can get. I bought the PS3 at launch and at the time the PlayStation store was new and had very little content, but they did have the PS3 adverts/trailers available to download - which I did. Going through some old saved files I still have some of them. The great thing is this is in 1080p and has NOT been downloaded from somebody else's YouTube channel so is not super-compressed. The advert was obviously to generate sales hype but also share a sense of epicness about this new generation PlayStation. But it was launching (in the UK & Europe) some 16 months after the Xbox 360 and at an absurdly high price point of £429.99. It was regarded as symptomatic of Sony's hubris. But I l loved it then and love it even more now. It's weakness, not actually saying anything about the PS3, is its strength. It is obscure and abstract but also mature and shows the high regard that Sony have for the gaming industry. I share it with you all today as a piece of PlayStation 3 history.
