Successful One- Stage Heart operation on a 50-day old infant | Marengo Asia Hospitals, Faridabad

Babu Abu Bakar, a 50-day old infant, had a severe heart condition and was transferred from Srinagar to Marengo Asia Hospitals, Faridabad, as local resources could not provide the necessary treatment. Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Program Clinical Director - Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, diagnosed him with transposition of the great arteries (a rare condition in which two main arteries leaving the heart are reversed), VSD, coarctation, and a hole in the heart. These conditions could lead to heart failure and, therefore, required urgent specialised treatment. A four hour one-stage operation successfully addressed all the defects. We are delighted to share that the baby was discharged under close supervision just a few days after the procedure.
