In a major win for conservation and Indigenous rights, Ecuador has officially recognized the Cuyabeno-Yasuní Connectivity Corridor—a vital ecological link uniting over 740,000 acres (300,000+ hectares) of Amazon rainforest. Nestled between the iconic Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve and Yasuní National Park, this corridor safeguards one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth, home to jaguars, pink river dolphins, giant otters, and over 600 bird species. More than just a stretch of land, this corridor ensures genetic diversity, protects migratory routes, and enhances climate resilience by preventing habitat fragmentation. It’s a lifeline for wildlife—and for over 1,500 Indigenous families from the Siona, Secoya, Cofán, Kichwa, and Shuar nations who depend on the forest for food, medicine, and cultural survival. This landmark achievement was made possible by years of work from the Wildlife Conservation Society, Indigenous leaders, and local partners. Together, they proved that science, tradition, and policy can unite to protect nature and empower communities. But the Amazon still faces threats like deforestation, illegal mining, and climate change. The Cuyabeno-Yasuní Corridor stands as both a symbol of hope and a call to action. It’s time to support Indigenous-led conservation, invest in rangers, and demand policies that put nature over profit. #AmazonRainforest #Conservation #Ecuador #WildlifeCorridor #Yasuní #Cuyabeno #Biodiversity #IndigenousRights #ClimateAction #Ecotourism #SaveTheAmazon Follow us on X (aka Twitter https://x.com/IldNews99504 Find out more in the links below Cuyabeno–Yasuní Connectivity Corridor Receives Official Recognition by Ecuador’s Environment Ministry https://newsroom.wcs.org/News-Release...
