Day 54 of reading the Bible in 365 days and sharing my SOAP journaling along the way. Today’s reflection is on Mark 6:48-51, where Jesus walks on the sea and comes to His disciples in the storm. This moment is more than a display of power. Throughout the Old Testament, it is the Lord alone who rules the raging waters and treads upon the waves. In coming to them this way, Jesus is revealing His divine identity. When He says, “Take heart; it is I,” the Greek language uses God's divine name "I am", pointing back to God’s self-revelation in Exodus. What the prophets declared about the Lord, Jesus now embodies. The One who commands the sea is present with His disciples in their fear. These verses remind us that Jesus fulfills what Scripture has long proclaimed. He is not only a teacher or miracle worker. He is the Lord who comes near, sovereign over chaos, faithful to His word, and present in the raging storm.
