All I have on the report from Rapido of the horribly named "Australian Invasion" that never really was. John Farnham sums up why much ignored Australian / New Zealand music is as good as (or in my view, better than) what comes from the rest of the world. In the credits, "Rooms The Memory" (which should be "Rooms For The Memory") is credited to INXS, but was released as a Michael Hutchence solo single in 1987, written and produced by legendary Ollie Olsen, they of course got together for the incredible Max Q project in 1989. I think this was the second time I'd ever seen Midnight Oil anywhere on U.K. television. The first time was in 1988 on the back of the sudden success of INXS as a short report from Australia touching on their time in the bush and to promote the single "The Dead Heart" (which obviously bombed here, as had Bed's Are Burning before that) on a fantastic late night Channel 4 programme called Wired. I didn't own a VCR in 1988, so I was only able to record it audibly on a cassette that's lost inside the garage somewhere here. This clip from Rapido was to help push the re-release of Bed's Are Burning, which this time was successful. Interesting, as it's not a fan favourite and is a track I always skip past, but will remain their worldwide anthem. Find and play any Midnight Oil gigs from the late 70's to the present day. You'll be blown away.
