As much as I love floppy drives and the usage of floppies, sometimes (even for me) the best option is to go for a floppy emulator. This was the case with this Yamaha QX1 sequencer from 1984. The the 5¼" original drive didn't work and YES, I did try different types of floppies on it, I know exactly how this works. Unfortunately nothing worked and since the QX1 constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY, has to read and write from the floppy during programming, swapping this out for an emulator is totally ok. Even for me. The 5¼" looks cool and it's old tech, but it has to work too and it didn't. Hunting around for another worn out physical drive didn't appeal to me THIS time. ;-) Now it's working and makes life with this insanely cumbersome sequencer somewhat livable. You'll know what I mean in a few days. ;-) Get the emulator here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/cpmagnetic...
