It's got welding marks, hammer marks and a maker's mark I could not find any info on, so I felt no regrets welding a base to it so it can stay upright on the workbench. I used a round offcut from a plasma cutter for this and this shape allows me to clamp it to the edge of the workbench and rotate it to the best angle suited for the work I'm doing. Kind of like a basic rotating base vise.
